I was wondering if any one knows when plea bargaining was first used in Canada... and where the idea originated from......

This isnt an easy question to answer. First of all Canada is based on british common law protocols. The idea of plea bargaining was to vertically charge the defendnat with a lot of crimes and then pare it down to 1 or 2 that could be proved.
You can go findlaw.com and look up cases there. The problem is that plea bargaining is a newer concept and that the admission of a crime also opens up to civil litigation. The reason that an alfred plea was used was to admit to the punishment and not the crime.

Plea bargaining has never been fully recognized as a legitimate practice in Canada, at least not to the same extent as in some American jurisdictions. There is by no means a uniform set of rules governing this process, and the way it functions depends primarily on the kinds of relationships that have grown up between magistrates, Crown attorneys and defence counsel in particular parts of the province.
In 1975, the Law Reform Commission of Canada defined "plea bargaining" as "any agreement by the accused to plead guilty in return for the promise of some benefit
