I don't think we should have to take spanish or french when we will probably never going to use it in the USA. I think that foreign people need to take classes on english cause the one at mcd's is pretty bad at english.

It depends on your school district. If your school offers it, or there is a school in your district (if you have more than one high school) which does, you should be able to arrange to take it. If you're an underclassmen and your school doesn't offer it, start a campaign to get it included in the curriculum.

You could also talk to an administrator about taking the course at night/on the weekend at a local community college and try to get credit for it that way. Even if you can't get high school credit for it in the end, you'll have some college credits finished up!

And by the way - even if you won't use Spanish (you probably will, though) or French practically, just to be able to list it as a skill on a resume looks very nice. :D

The fastest growing population in America is the Hispanic community. Foreign language is here to stay. Sign language may or may not be accepted by your local school district and state mandated guidelines for learning.

Were you aware that in some foreign countries like China, Japan and India, the students are required to learn English so they can compete and thrive in our society?

I think it would be a great idea! One difficulty is that there are several different systems of signing for the deaf in this country. Signed exact English follows the grammatical structure of English. ASL, however, is ABSOLUTELY a separate 'foreign' language. It has its own grammatical structure, word order, etc...For more resources on ASL, you might want to contact Gallaudet University or the following website: http://www.aslinfo.com/deafculture.cfm Good luck!

Are you kidding? You can use Spanish all the time, depending on where you live I guess. I don't think most High schools offer an American Sign Language class, take it up with your principal and see if you can get one set up if there isn't one.
