You can't do it unless the circuit-board of the hard-drive is visible. If you can see the chips on the circuit board, try to get a short piece of wire, then use it to short-circuit the chips. This will fry the drive electronics.

First...Why do you need a new hard drive? Second, your warranty usually doesn't cover damage YOU caused to it, but damage from regular operation. I recommend keeping what you have now, instead of destroying your hard drive and not getting another one...
But if you REALLY wanted to...start downloading everything you can. Aim for suspicious software that could contain spyware and viruses...But really, don't do that.

Pull hard drive from computer, slam (flat! circuit board on bottom) on concrete floor 4 times. this will shatter the heads and possibly a platter.
Keep in mind that doing such may well void your warranty with Dell

apply 12v to the 5v connections- otherwise look for a "disk shredder" program- some will destroy the drive...
BUT, remember- they have seen the programs and know how to do damage, so be friendly with them and the tech that replaces it and there should not be a problem.. ha ha

Me ... Do I understand you correctly? You're asking us to actually help you break your hard drive so you can get a new one? Unless I've misunderstood, I'd say that's not a good idea.

if thats what you REALLY want to do, then listen:
you could take your hd out and sit in your freezer.
you could spray the inside of your computer (motherboard, various cards) with household appliances
you could basically stomp it
