I have a really bad tooth ache. I went to the dentest yesterday and because I am pregnant he could not do x rays so he did not even look in my mouth.
I have tried orjel and that does nothing. It is my back wisdom tooth and it is causing so much pressure on my ear and killing it. Is there any suggestions on hot to help ease the pain?

I had the exact same problem with my toth during this pregnancy and it was what i believe is my wisdom also...I took some tylenol which didnt do a thing for me...I found that gargling with warm *not hot* salt water really really worked well, after gargling i put some straight salt on the annoyed tooth which took the pain away for almost an hour,,i repeated this until the toothache was gone...Stay away from cold things and hot thing, drink warm liquids, mainly water,no sugar at all either...Also another thing i did was take an ice cube and rub it in the v shape of your hand where your thumb and first finger meet *in the middle of those fingers*,it will feel uncomfortable but many doctors and dentists recommend this as the same nerves that go through your hand on the side of the toothache also goes to that infected tooth and the ice numbs the nerve...it really works...

I know it hurts cause at times i wanted to cry but it will go away with the proper care at home, mine went away completely within 3 days...Good Luck!

A dentist does not need an x ray to determine if you have an infection or not. I had the same problem at the start of my pregnancy and was prescribed an anti biotic suitable for pregnant women to reduce swelling and fight the infection before work was done on the tooth. Orjel is only going to numb the pain it is not going to get ride of the infection and the infection will only increase without antibiotics. You cannot take the normal Ibuprofen to help the inflammation because of the pregnancy the only painkiller you can take is paracetamol. You can go to your GP for a prescription for antibiotics it does not have to be your dentist. Although i would seriously think of changing my dentist if they just left you in pain like that with no advice or offer of any treatment. Sorry to tell you but nothing is going to ease that pain except treatment with antibiotics. Good luck.

An old remedy I have used is steep a teabag in hot water for 2 minutes then place it on the tooth. Any kind of tea works. Your medical dr. can prescribe a antibiotic for you so that it doesn't get abcessed. Do they not have shields tp protect you from exposure? I'm not an expert but you can see decay from just looking most of the time. They take that tool and usually find the cavity. You will be able to get it filled if needed. Go to another dentist that you have gotten referenced for, and have him check it out for you. Good Luck on the tooth and the baby!

you might have to go to either your local doctor or who ever is doing your pregnancycheck-ups. the hospital emergency room doctor could help tell you or even give you something for the pain. Since you are in so much pain there is a local numbing stuff that they have just for pregnant women, I had a tooth pulled when I was pregnant with my daughter. the numbing shot they gave me wasnt as strong as the other stuff they normally use but still effective.

Tylenol is all you can really take, you can call your dentist back to see if he will give you something for the pain and make sure there is not an infection. Good luck

BTW, as an experienced x-ray tech if the Dentist wanted to do x-rays on you, you are out of the 1st trimester and all they had to do was drape you with 2 normal aprons!!! I had to have a root canal during my 2nd trimester!

Okay here's the deal, they say that when you're pregnant you can get: 'Pregnancy Ginuvitis'. Yes, it's REAL!

You need to see the dentist even MORE regularly, now!
They say that the reason is, is because the germs feed off of the hormones your body is making. Discusting but TRUE!

its probably a sinus infection if its hurting your tooth and ear
go to a regular family doctor, or your OB, not a dentist, and he'll prbably perscribe you some anti-biotics
