I served in the Army for three years - got a steady paycheck, free medical, dental, etc, learned discipline, motivation, teamwork... I don't see what the problem is. America NEEDS an Army. We're always going to need a military. If you want to discuss "fair," why is it fair that people who DID join and DID serve their time have to be reactivated because some punk 19 year old high school drop out idiot with no job doesn't feel like joining? It's ridiculous. I say have everyone be required to do two years. If nothing else, it gives you training and you're giving back to the country that gives YOU so much. Americans have become whiny, lazy, and want everyone else to do things for them. It's sort of pathetic. Anyway, off my soapbox. I think it's a great idea. Go for it.
And jail time? Screw that. Ask them which country they want to live in and send them there. Canada? Fine, go. Mexico? Fine, see ya later. But they'll never be US citizens again.

That is why Kerry made no sense to the point Republicans didn't want him as President. He said he would end the war but then he said he would have a draft where everyone under 30 had to serve 2 years. Which is it.

i detect it a chortle that each and all the human beings who're repulsed or amused by using the belief of being `1required to serve this usa for 2 yeas look the comparable ones who like to wrap themselves in pretend patriotic fervor while the communicate of conflict and terrorism comes up. comparable chickenhawks diverse problem. there is surely no longer something incorrect with requiring that the voters who've taken lots from this usa supply 2 awful years of service back. perhaps which could help cut back a number of that Fed spending the comparable human beings stated above whine lots approximately. I trust you that enforcement could be particularly an issue yet perhaps if that service have been tied to credit scores or eligibility for any form of government counsel, etc, it could be greater proper. confident Kerry's a comedian tale and that i shy away to think of I ever voted for him yet this concept isn't a foul one in any respect.

I'd have to guess it would a penalty similar to what happens with 18 year old males don't register for selective service. This means loss of access to federal student loans and grants, social security benefits etc...
I doubt anyone would go to jail.

It depends on how you define serve. It could be in the military it could be working in a daycare center learning how to handle little children or could train others to do something or other. If they do not choose to participate they could get less benefits such as a lower social security payment when they retire or a surtax for a period of time.

Guess that would not be to bad if we served that two years like he served his suppose to be tour of duty. He served like a coward, lied about saving life to get Purple Heart and lied to obtain other medal, while he did none. No, I would not do what he did, I have more respect for myself than that.

That idea was being kicked around during and after both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. I always thought it was an idea worth implementing and I still do. JMHO.

Lieberals would never allow the young to learn discipline, self respect and personal responsibiliy thrown in with love of country.
They wouldn't ever be able to garner enough queer tree hugging seal saving baby killing voters to elect a dog catcher after that.

He has probably flipflopped on those statements by now. Especially since he thinks he is our savior by talking directly to the Syrians.

I would hope it was jail. And not county jail either. I think Walla Walla would be a good choice for them.
