I saw this video of a guy backing up his PS2 games with just:

- a blank DVD-R disc
- Nero 6.6.0.13
- Swap Magic 3.6
- A slide Tool
- A "fat"(original) PS2

How do you go about backing up and playing a game with only these things?

THERE IS A WAY)

My cousin would do it all the time. All he did was insert the game in his compouter and then he inserted a blank disc which had 1 GB or more or something like that space. He used that Nero stuff and the rest should be easy. Hope this helps.
