There are some I've been looking at that have XP not Windows Vista. Is this not a good idea?

C ... Have you seen the professional reviews of Vista? I think that if you read a couple, you might hesitate to go for Vista.

Does it have some things that XP doesn't have? Yes, including plenty of bugs. I've read enough bad things about it to scare me away for a long, long time.

Also, if performance is important to you, then I suspect that whatever Vista can do on a given machine, XP can do it faster. Unless you find a certain feature that you must, absolutely, definitely have to get from Vista, I'd say to go with XP.

By the way, see my links below for some recent stories. Good luck.

Yes, it's fine. I actually would not get Windows Vista yet. Many things do not work with it, since it just came out.
You can always upgrade to Vista later, most laptops come with a free upgrade.

And I have to disagree with the first answerer, Vista is NOT as good as Windows XP right now. It's still new and has a lot to fix. Windows XP support is also not going to end until 2009.

Vista is brand new and a lot of software has not yet been adapted to it. Everything works fine with XP. Many people think it is a good idea to wait a while before getting Vista. This will give Microsoft time to patch the bugs that are inevitable and other software companies time to adapt their products to Vista.

Vista seems like a cool program. But its not really that important to search for laptops that have it. You can always upgrade and buy it at a later time. I plan on getting after its been out for a while. Its not dumb to me. They would probably be more expensive. But yes, it would be kind of dumb, if you wanted windows Vista and a laptop. At the end of the day if you want Vista, and need a laptop you might as well buy one with Vista.

This is a cool queston: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070210170722AA8S9c2&r=w#QcArXTu8AmH2vkTFTokH3S7A.SHZ3mamjGxlmhLlt88oXtLq5CeJ

Well Vista is the new operating system, and XP support will end before Vista support, so yeah. It would seem kind of dumb, since Windows Vista is a whole lot better than just XP. Go ahead and buy one with Vista on it.

Hi. Win XP is a good OS in my opinion. It also works with hardware that does not fully support Vista right now and there will be bargains out there.
