File away the certificates and label to be looked over in 20 years. If they are still dear to the adult keep them and hand them down to grand children or whomever wants them.

As for trophies, line them up, take a few close up photos, write a short piece about them and the memories they recall. Put the photos and the written memories with your family pictures. Then you won't have to dust them or cart them around with you forever.

Then give the trophies away as prizes to little kids who cherish such things. This works best if the trophies are generic winner trophies. But with the right kid sports, ones and academic ones work too. If you were feeling creative you could put a child's name and accomplishment on a homemade plate and personalize the hand-me-down trophy.

whenever you are ready to part with them, and think of them as clutter, that is the time. I would keep the really significant ones, and give the rest to Goodwill. Believe it or not some people decorate with trophies. Best wishes.

Don't throw any of it away---put it into a box and stick it in the basement of attic---I ran into some of my old stuff and I was happy that I kept it
