I think he was an honest President. That alone says a lot. Unfortunately that's not what people want. They want to hear all the lies and for some reason that makes them feel better.

Jimmy Carter is "The Worst President in Our Lifetime and Beyond"
His foregin policy was flat-out bad (see Iranian Hostage Crisis), and he couldn't do anything about the economy (19% stagflation).

Jimmy Carter was okay. As a president if I were to give him a grade it might be a C- or D+. There were some unfortunate things that happened he had to take the blame for but there were things he could have improved and did not. I would not say, however, that he was the worst. He is probably rated in the bottom 10 but not the bottom 5.

Jackson Leslie is right, Yes he did the best he could with the war mongers by trying to lead a peaceful society. Alas bubba we were not listening? And now look what is the result, a dictator and crazy congress and the enemy is at the gate! To be a war monger is not the answer for America, unless you want the New World Order? And if so you are crazy too! Sometimes it is better that we look at our public and see the truth than to look for excuses or someone else to blame it on! Mankind's problem is that he thinks to become King of the Mountain is to be like Henry the VIII or Attilla the Hun, or Russian President Putin, eh? But if you have someone promoting peace like Jesus did, they crucify you? There is really something rotten with that picture? Maybe the people deserve to have a war because they are so hateful?
I don't believe that, but many do because I hear everyday how fed up the WW II Vets are with this generation and this administration and they are reminded of the fiascos of Vietnam and they did not agree with that either, remember they fought a real war for survival and we are here for the Grace of God let us win with their lives. We owe them some respect don't we? Or would you rather have Hitler like you have now in our White House a madman with an agenda that does not include us at all. A self serving immoral man who intends on destroying our whole government to suit his own purpose? Or would you rather have Carter who gave the power to the people and depended on their votes, and listened to the hearts of people and ruled with kindness? You choose? But remember big business was stopped when he was in and that is why our economy was bad because we starved Japan out! And that was the great thing he did. Harley Davidson came out of bankruptcy and Chrysler rebuilt its plant in Kenosha? but after that with Reagan just when we were getting on our feet? We lost our butts again! and our taxes went sky high! we let all the illegals in especially we let in the legal Arabs and then gave them 7 years immunity to government tax but we paid didn't we? And then they had balls enough to bomb us? hell yeah I liked Carter and regardless if you don't believe me go to www.history.com and read when he deported all of bush, reagan, halliburtons, arab friends, and then when Reagan got in Bin Ladin was brought back right here on this soil along with all those Turkish coffee shops where they were running guns and money illegally with our CIA. Thank God Bush sr. lost to Clinton or we would have been in a WW III then! Get it?
Look at the Ollie North trials on www.history.com iran contra and south america? No wonder Chavez that animal has the tiger by the tail? He knows the truth about Bush Clan for sure! The only reason Pres, Fox goes along is because he is benefitting for his country and he made a deal with Bush Clan! Profit and Loss and we mean nothing to this era, nothing at all!

A big no!
"Under President Carter, the United States vetoed consecutive UN Security Council resolutions to impose sanctions against the apartheid regime in South Africa. Ignoring calls from the democratic South African opposition to impose such pressure, Carter took the line of American corporate interests by claiming U.S. investments – including such items as computers and trucks for the South African police and military – somehow supported the cause of racial justice and majority rule. (Barely five years after Carter left office, the United States imposed sanctions against South Africa by huge bipartisan Congressional majorities and no longer vetoed similar UN efforts.")

He's the democrats version of a George W. Bush. Oh I think I got a lot of people mad at me. He's a reaction to a scandal, and wouldn't normally have gotten voted in. He is a good hearted man though. And no, he didn't trade weapons with Tehran. He armed and trained the Taliban, who latter used all that Jimmy gave them on us. FOr those who is old enough to remember, the Russian warn us that There were nut case religious fanatic in Afghanistan and they were there to calm things down before it leaks over to other countries, especially Into the Soviet Union. Carter decide to give the Afghan rebels weapons as well as the Pakistanis and boycott the moscow olympics.

He was paved with good intentions but his years in office were mired with unfortunate and untenable scenarios that overshadowed any good he did.
However, he never compromised himself and he has since established himself as the president to do most after his time in office, hands down. I'd like to think that counts for something.
