I see the Tampa Bay Devil Rays becoming the American League East Division Champions but not making it to the ALCS.

E: I see them finishing near the bottom. Their team is not one of the best I've seen.

You are either delusional or under the influence of some mind-altering substance. The Devil Rays will not get a sniff of first place, second place, or even third place. They have some talent, but it is very young and not even close to what the other teams in the division have. Also, aside from Kasmir their pitching is horrible, and teams will pound on them once again. There is no way the Devil Rays will make the playoffs this year, and quite possibly in our lifetime. They will finish last just like they have every year but one since they joined the American League in 1998.

Putting a team in Tampa Bay was one of the most idiotic ideas baseball ever had. They play in the ugliest stadium in baseball, they draw poorly (except then the Yankees and Red Sox are in town), and they don't spend the revenue sharing money they receive the way they are supposed to. If baseball ever decides to contract, they should start with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays (also a stupid name).

Yeah even though I don't think the Devil Rays are as bad as most people think, they will still be nowhere near playoff contention. Maybe if they were in the AL West and didn't have to continually face the Red Sox/Yankees all year. Baldelli/D. Young/Crawford will be a force at the top of their lineup, and Kazmir is one of the best pitchers around, but they will still be competing for 3rd-4th place with the Blue Jays and Orioles. Their bullpen lacks and their depth in their starting rotation and infield still gives them a lot of trouble.

It is not out of the question that they might compete in a few years if they can hold on to their key young players and maybe make some good trades.

I admire your confidence in your team and don't wanna just write them off with a short "they suck" type of answer, but they are probably going to battle Baltimore for last place again. they just don't have the experience yet to compete w/ the huge market Sox and Yanks. They DO, however, have GREAT young talent and if they can hold on to Kazmir, Young, Crawford, Gomes, Upton, Cantu, Baldelli and develop guys like Iwamura, Longoria, Brignac, Dukes, McGee, Niemann, and Hammell, they could build a good team in a few years.

I see the Rays overtaking the Orioles for 4th place. That's a good finish for the Rays. They just don't have the talent to play with the big boys, NY, Boston and Toronto.

They have talent, they just can't put it together. They let two of their best players (Aubrey Huff and Julio Lugo) get away. They're in the same divison as the Yankees, Red Sox, and Blue Jays, all who have great teams. If the D-Rays have a winning season, I'll be shocked.

Honestly, I think they will compete with Baltimore for fourth place. The highest I see them is third. That is with Baldelli and Crawford staying healthy, Delmon Young having a Jeter/ A Rod in 1996 year, and Kazmir and Fossum pitching well consistently, if that all happens, coupled with either the Jays or Red Sox faltering in any way, the D-Rays could be third.

No offense, but are you kidding me? I like the Devil Rays and everything (well at least more than Boston), but their team just doesn't have what it takes to get anywhere near the top! You are implying they would beat the YANKEES??!! Sorry, but NEVER gonna happen.
