Conscience is knowing right from wrong, and being able to choose.

edit: from a purely philosophical standpoint, not a psychological one.

i think its that little voice in the back of your head that says"Dont do that, its against your morals,principals and more so the rules!"
Sometimes it is depicted in 2 halves aka the little guardian angel on your shoulder and the pointy headed devil with a pitchfork on the other one.

conscience is having doubts to our thoughts. CON - SCIENCE. you are playing/faking the event in your mind due to lack of evidence. its the opposite of fear. in regards to assimilaing incomplete understanding of an event.
it is a form of reaction of the brain, necessary to sense control of your environment' s balance in order to keep one's existence.
