I refused and was sent to the Princial's Office.

I don't think he should have asked me to 'out' my classmates like that. Even if he meant Celebrity Homophones like Richard Simmons, it was still wrong.

Should I get a lawyer or just let it go?

I think you must be getting confused between the words homophone and homosexual.

A teacher would be asking for a list of homophones because a homophone is a word that is pronounced the same but spelt differently, and/or has different meanings.

So a list of homophones might include examples such as:

night, knight
there, their, they're

It was obviously a misunderstanding on your part and the teacher thought you were choosing to be disruptive on purpose.

If you don't understand a question or a word it's better to ask or to clarify what someone means to avoid situations where people will be talking about different topics altogether.

Im guessing you dk what a homophone is.... Homophones are words that sound alike but are different in spelling, meaning or origin. An example of a pair of homophones is blew and blue. Another example is to, too and two..... Richard Simmons isnt a homophone... And it isnt wrong for your teacher to ask you to write a list of homophones since that is probably what you are learning..... and of course not on the lawyer I mean come on just let it go.....

Are you people ignorant? A homophone is one of two or more words pronounced alike but different in meaning or derivation or spelling. From the New Merriam-Webster Dictionary

Yes, you should get a lawyer. How did he expect you to know all those homophone numbers anyway? Sounds like he was trying to make an accusation about your manhood as well. Sue the pants off of him. lol!!! :)

No it was not wrong. It is was learning exercise and the teacher wanted to know if you knew any. You were wrong in defying the teacher in the first place. If you were not sure of the menaing of that word, then you should have asked. Nothing wrong with that.

Yep, lt it go. It is stupid to get a lawyer involved. It was an english/spelling lesson.

if you are like 6 it would be wrong for they to call you out like that. Otherwise, a teacher has the right to call on whoever.

you are in the business of learning.... its your job to be at school and to at least try .

it sux for you, but most of your friends wont make the mistake of doing whatever you were doing at the time you were called out. maybe talking, maybe not paying attention. maybe cracking jokes. hope you learned too. Whatever you were doing made you a volunteer in that teacher's eyes.

you didnt ask for a compromise, you didnt go up and ask if you can phone a friend.... you snapped and refused. Insubordination aint funny whether you are a 1st grader or in the military.
Getting a lawyer would just get you laughed at.

maybe the teacher thought you could handle the embarrassment and just misread your personality. Let them know how it made you feel, calmly and without too many others around. maybe they will give you a break next time and show you some respect if you show some by opening up to them.

You have it confused. A homophone is a grammar term. A homophobe is a person who afraid or dislike homosexuals.

Ha ha ha ha hee hee hee ho ho ho!
That's funny.
As long as you don't dial one of the homophones, you're okay!
Seriously, you are just pulling our leg, aren't you,and you do know what homophones are? like the 'c' in city and the 's' in sin. They are different letters but sound the same.

The real question is: do you know what homophones are?

(For reference: homophone mean words with the same pronunciation, like: board and bored.)
