Ok, I was trying to download music to my new mp3 player and when I plugged it up on my 4 yr old computer it said it would work because I needed a hi-speed USB port. So I went and bought one and installed it. When I tried to install the software that came with the PCI card it said not compatible with windows xp. But It does recognize the mp3 player when it is plugged into the new 2.0 USB port but one again gives me the error that i have plugged my hi-speed device into a non hi-speed USB port. I am completely lost on this one. I have tried to find drivers from various websites but am unable to find one for my model. It is a Compaq Presario 5000 desktop. Any ideas on what to try next???

Below is a long link but it will take you to the page that tells you how to get into your BIOS on boot-up.

When you see the cursor flashing in upper right corner press F10.

I hope this helps.

You have to change the USB port speed selection settings in your PCs BIOS (select USB 2.0).

I'm not so familiar with your PC's make and model, so I'm not sure how to display the BIOS settings. But it could be one of these ones:
- continuously press Esc key right after power-up
- continuously press Del key right after power-up

Can you save music?

I had a similar problem and had to get a usb thumb drive that was compatible with '98 2nd ed.

Have you tried to run the software compatible with your operating system?

Try running MS's windows update to see if there is an updated driver for that card- it may recognize that card and download the driver for it- without the maker/model, its kinda hard to tell you for sure...

The add on card settings would not be in the bios..
