are we still governed by the people for the people, or by Judges for the people?
are the judges not now re-interpreting the law and re writing the law to suit their friends, and groups needs?

America is still free, but it's becoming gradually more "restricted".

No, we are slowly losing our freedom. All these little changes to keep us safe is actually taking away our personal freedom. You'll have some that say" if it keeps us safe from terrorists then I'm all for it and if your not a terrorist why do you care?" Well who's to say what a "terrorist" is? If I criticize the government, I could be called a terrorist. If I said something negative about 911(like get over it-hypothetical)I'm sure I'd be labeled a "terrorist". We have to be careful because it seems like the majority of people would rather be safe than free. Maybe 1984 should be a mandatory read or must see movie for this generation. Our grandparents would never stand for this, while we shuffle along like good little sheep.

i have not in any respect met anybody daft sufficient to imagine the NHS is free through any means, yet when it does some thing actual, that is organised to learn you both regardless of your modern monetary company stability is. it is a equipment meant to keep you alive and really content cloth, no longer furnish you with laser surgical operation on the tax payers fee at the same time as glasses or contacts would paintings basically to boot. Going deepest would not regularly advise you'd be coated for uncommon ailments both, imagine of each and each and every of the thoughts of households having to commute to discover the single medical professional in some some distance off land to address the present stress of Ladygardenitis. Which equipment resources the most ideal cost for money is, as you're saying, very like having insurance on a vehicle. Crash it regularly, and it fairly works on your favour (quite), yet you need to pay your dues each and each month and not in any respect have an twist of destiny.

For the people by the people? if it is then why do we have the Electoral College? No judges aren't reinterpretting the laws to suit their friends, just special interest groups and lobbyists so that they get re-elected. As for free, guess it depends on what you think freedom is---full circle -if we had total freedom, then there would only be anarchy.

increasingly america is become a fascist state, and pretty much meets the criteria of a fascist state. israel firsters have hijacked many levels of government. you can't even tell the difference between elephant and jackass anymore. both throw up candidates that belong to the same secret organizations. but people are busy with ipods, what paris hilton is doing, who got voted off some ' reality show ' there is a reason for that. real change won't happen and by the time people wake up, it will be too late. americans are way too docile for anything like a coloured revolution

No, America is NOT free; our congress, President, and courts have been busy gutting the Bill of Rights for a couple of decades now. Free speech is stifled in the name of "campaign finance reform"; police can confiscate any cash found on your person on a presumption of guilt; government agents listen to your phone and monitor your email with impunity. Our only hope is that libertarian ideals somehow take hold in the minds of our citizens and that we demand our institutions reform and respect.

Government is growing. Legislation is increasing.
Activists judges now legislate from the bench and push personal agendas with loose interpretation of the law.

We have lost integrity, honesty, and work ethic!
We must not continue in this way!

Haven't you heard? Nothing is free. Well, there is one thing -choice. We may not like our choices but they're always ours to make. As far as anything to do with government, it's so corrupt that only the very well heeled have freedom. Well, that's not quite true. If you don't have anything or want anything you could be free.

"Is America still free?" boils down to whether any individual American feels as free as he/she once did.

When I was a teenager in south L.A. in 1944 and 45, I and my brother and cousin freely went all over the place, riding our bikes from 80th and Western to Manhattan and Venice beaches. Our parents felt no fear in allowing this. We also rode the Western Ave. bus almost to Griffith Observatory, then hiked up through "Fern Dell", or transferred to the Red Car over to Hollywood and wandered around all over the place taking in the great movies they had then or the radio shows at CBS or NBC on Sunset Blvd.

But today, in 2007, I can't imagine any such activities for my grandchildren without fear of asshole gangsters, druggies or queers attacking them.

In answer to this question I can only quote a line from a song in "west side story"
"Everything's free in America for a small fee in America".

I think we are still free but as you rightly indicated we are losing our freedoms bit by bit. And its the Left, not the Right that is doing it.

My state senator wants a state censorship board and the press has yet to criticize him for proposing it.

"This is how freedom dies -- with thunderous applause!"
