If you want to pierce your ear I would recommend that you get it done professionally. Doing it by yourself at home could result in a whole bunch of problems, from infection to an incorrectly done piercing. You can use a safety pin or hollow needle if you have one, and you have to make sure they are sterilized. The jewelry you are inserting into the piercing must also be carefully sterilized. A lot of times people pierce their ears with safety or sewing pins and find that they have to force the jewelry through, because the jewelry is thicker than the needle they used to pierce their ear.
So basically, go to a professional.

you can't really avoid pain ether way. Ice will help numb it, but if your like me putting ice on your bare skin is just as bad as putting a needle through your ear. Needles prefereably one that's a bit thicker are really the only way besides a piercing gun. you'll want to make a hole big enough for a stud-earing to be put in. make sure to clean it regularly and use something that will help prevent infection. also make sure to turn the stud regularly and keep it in for a few weeks before swtiching to smaller earings because the hole can grow over quickly. The longer you have the stud in the better.

it's well worth the price to have it done professionally, and it's the least painful way also. Of course it's possible to pierce at home. That's what our grandmas did with a big needle. Ouchie.

technically u can just use a needle, just put ice on ur ear until it goes numb. it'll sting but it wont hurt as much if u did it without the ice. and make sure the needle is clean or else ur ear will get nice and infected

okay. put ice all on your ear until it is FULLY! numb. (have someone pinch it to see if it is.) then have someone hold ice behind your ear when your putting a needle through. put lemon on the front part of your ear. then when you feel the ice with the end of the needle... your done.
what the lemon is for:
the lemon juice is supposed to make the needle go in more smoothly. (make sure it's a FRESH lemon!)
