I have a Windows XP installation disc but dont have the Product Key number. I seem to have misplaced it during a move. Is there any other Key number I can use or am I just SOL ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to install it on a older laptop that is running Windows 98.

Your only (legal) hope is to convince Microsoft of your plight. Otherwise you are SOL or on the shady side of legal.

Well you're sort of stuck there. The only thing I can say, is I installed a windows XP disk using a windows Media center 2005 product key. So if you have some other windows system keys I'd give it a try for the heck of it, otherwise you're stuck, sorry.

As long as you have a valid license, you don't need the product key. Just download a copy from the internet and it's legal to use.

Good luck!
