A group of high school girls were in my store, one of 'em lost her phone and because another customer assumed I took it because I cleaned the table and told my boss, and after that happened everything was fine until I went to work today and he fired me! What can I do! There are no cameras and when I went to work today he just told me that I wasnt needed anymore, and the lost phone was the reason!

In the state of Calif., by law, you must be given an exit interview when you are fired. In this interview, the employer must have you sign a filled out form that indicates why you were fired. You have the right to a copy of this form.

It all has to do with unemployment. This company can turn you down for receiving unemployment and claim any reason they want for the firing. You pay unemployment taxes on every paycheck.

The only recourse you have is to go to the unemployment office and turn them in for not giving you an exit interview. It is now your word against theirs for the reason of being fired. In order to get unemployment you must have worked for this company a certain length of time and make so much money before you can claim unemployment.

You are much better off finding another job. I believe everything has a reason and maybe this will open a more exciting door for you doing something else you would prefer doing. Always work towards your ultimate goal for what you really want to do in your life. Good Luck.....

Nothing. Assuming you are in an "At Will" state and 99% of all states are "at will" you can be fired for any reason unless you have an employment contract or are in a protected situation under The Civil Rights Act. You could legally be fired if you wore a blue shirt to work and your boss said he didn't like it. On the flip side you can quit whenever you like as well. It is a two way street.

Well, best case scenario, you raise a stink, involve a lawyer, and your boss is forced to hire you back.

At which point, he will be looking for an excuse to fire you, and you will spend all your time under his microscope. Is that what you want?

I think the best you can hope for is to get someone with some clout to go with you to the Boss, threaten serious lawsuit and a lot of publicity, and be willing to settle for a letter of recommendation. If your "clout" is really good, you might also try for two weeks severance - but if you can walk away with a letter of recommendation, take it and move on.

Well, did u give him the phone after you found it. If you did that means your boss is wrong and you reported the missing phone. That's crazy. I would find another job, but if you really need it and feel that your boss was not right I would sue him for false interperation.

That's terrible. You are probably better off though. If he would treat you badly in a situation like that, he would do the same thing in many other situations. Just let it go and find a better environment to work in.

You should take this up with your company's HR department. If they don't have one then you can gosee a lawyer.
