Two years ago I worked for a company for one day, which I never got paid for. The problem is I just recieved a 10-99 from that campany saying I made over $2000.00. What should I do.

I already contacted the company and thaty are avoiding me.
I also found out that this is not the first time this had happened from this company

I think I'd step it up and contact the attorney general in your state. I hope you have some kind of records to prove your case. The fact that it is two years old is suspicious. If need be, you can file an amended tax return for that year. You'll have to do some homework to see how the additional money affects your tax for that year. It may not be enough to knock you into a higher tax bracket. $2,000 for one day's work is hard to believe. The 1099 says you are being considered as an independent contractor, thus no taxes or social security were withheld.

If you can't contact the company because they continue to avoid you, call the IRS. Leaving a message at the company saying something like "I was hoping to talk to you before I called the IRS about this problem" might get their attention.

Call the company and get it straight, because they have sent a copy of that 1099 to the IRS.
