Why is troy smith a projected late 2nd rounder wasnt he a top 5 pick at beginningh of season. He winsthe heisman and he drops. He has everything vince young does if not better. Why? Vince Young is doing great and Troy will probably be better. Whoever gets Troy Smith(hopefully my Ravens) will get the best pick and he will turn out to be great what is wrong. He is accurate smart has a cannon for an arm. Don't understand

The scouts don't like the lack of his height. But I think it is ridiculous hasn't anyone heard of Doug Flutte. Whoever gets him if he goes in the second round it will be a steal.

because he's not a prototypical NFL quarterback. He's small and compact. He's got a cannon for an arm, but sometimes he lacks decisive decision making. On top of that, his performance in the national championship + the huge upside to JaMarcus Russel, Brian Brohm, and other prototypical NFL QBs has made Troy's stock drop considerably. Many teams don't see him as a quarterback who can take control of a game without huge help from the team around him.

As for your comparisons to Vince Young. Vince is more accurate, has a stronger arm, and is much bigger than Troy is. He fits the bill of a quarterback in the NFL in every area size-wise, and he wins games. Troy's a winner, but there isnt much you can do about his size. He's an athlete, no doubt. But, he's not worth a high draft pick.

To the guy who concept Smith may were picked first: Are you insane? Russel does all Smith can and far extra. Their are quite some causes why Smith fell. A heisman trophy would not guarentee NFL fulfillment, seem at Chris Weinke. He thoroughly blew it for my Panthers very last three hundred and sixty 5 days and now he's decrease. And definite, he did win a hesiman in college. first of all, Smith is short for a QB. Scouts like good so the QB can see extra effective, that is why Russell became so quite praised. Smith also has accuracy topics. someone previously tried to study Smith and Brees because both were short, yet Brees has top echleon accuracy and Smith hasn't even performed adversarial to NFL defenses yet. also, quite some communities did not choose QBs. that is why many human beings did not comprehend the position Quinn may flow after the Dolphins choked and picked Ted Ginn Jr.; all the communities in the back of the Dolphins had shown QBs. and finally, Smith scrambles more effective than he desires to, and would not do the superb pastime at searching at his 2d and 0.33 innovations. So i imagine the fifth round became an approximate position for him, if only a tad bit low.

The national championship game really hurt him. Look at how far Matt Leinart fell after his performance against Vince Young, plus Matt was a projected top 5...Troy Smith was a porjected first rounder, plus a bad game drops him to late second.

He is just as tall as Drew Brees, I think he will be a sleeper, but has the skills to make it in the NFL. I would expect him to ride the bench for at least 2 seasons before getting any kind of real playing time.

Troy doesn't have the ideal height and his release isn't quick enough.

I don't believe he has the potential that Vince Young has.

I would be surprised if Troy Smith goes before the 5th round. Florida showed us why.

Because he is too short, he takes too long with his throwing motion, and his poor personal history (although he would fit in well with the Lewis Brothers in Baltimore). I watched him for three years at OSU-He takes to long to too throw the ball. He is only 5'11"-6'0" AT BEST. Vince Young has a quicker release and is taller.

i asked the same question myself and people said that he is too short and his performance in the bowl game didn't help at all.

i also think he should be picked earlier but the experts are called experts for a reason.
