would you be better off buying the travel kind or the normal size baby swing?

I had to small travel size one originally, and it didn't have a large enough arc to calm my child so I ended up purchasing a full size as well. If you have the space for a full size, definitely go with that one.

I was kind of in the same boat. I still have all the recipts for everything because I'm moving about 2 months after the baby is born. I bought the play yard that moves up to a bassinet and it's got a changing table on it. It's really nice I just set it up. I think a stroller is necessary. I bought both the bouncer and the swing. I bought the bobby swing and it's really small like it is as tall as maybe my knee. it folds up to be really small. You can find small bouncers as well. Not everything has to be huge. Just from watching other peoples children. I believe that the swing and a mat for the floor with lights and things for the baby to grap at are really necessary. Bouncers are just nice to have. There is something really cool I got at my shower it's called a womb bear. When you turn it on it makes the same sound as what the baby hears when it's in you. Your heart beat. It is really cool. I haven't used it yet but it's definitely something to check out. People love buying cutesy stuff like that. Good luck!

NOrmal size. Travel swings are kind of ridiculous in my opinion.

Might be better for you to buy a travel if you are moving around. My daughter absolutely loved her swing, but only until she was about 4 months old.

I had one of each, and the travel one was rarely used. However, if you have to tote the baby around with you often, it could come in handy.

If you've got the room and not enough money for both, spring for the big one. I kept my son in it until he was too heavy for the swing to move. I would never have showered or eaten without it! LOL

We actually had both, we had one that was battery operated and would turn off when it was quiet for like 5 minutes and then turn back on when your baby starts to cry. The other was just a travel size for when she stayed at grandma's house. Both worked wonders.

I have both, when my son was first born he hated the small one but now at 4 months he doesn't care.

I have just about everything, the motions glider, rainforest jumperoo, doorway jumper, playmats, and swings(yes he is spoiled... lol)-he likes the swings the best!

I prefer the full size ones. I never did alot of traveling when I used them for my kids so not much need for one that was compact.
