designing clothes is simply a matter of imagination and creativity. Learning to draw is a matter of patience and study. If you want to learn to draw study gesture anatomy perspective lighting compostiton I'm sure a dozen other things I can't think of right now. Learning to draw takes dedication, designing clothes takes imagination.

as a graphic design major in her freshman year in college, i can tell you right now that either you must copy others work, or you find the inspiration inside of yourself. for me, and this only myself i speak of, inspiration comes from my own head and i can draw what i see fit for my characters; i choose something that fits their personality, more than what the masses would want to see.
and because i wish to be a character designer for square enix one day, let me tell you this: it's a tough competition and you have you practice for HOURS everyday.

how about you draw only adult anime where you don't have to come up with clothing ideas AT all
