My daughter is a senior dance major and magooi1234 is basically correct; you have to be really good to get into a college dance program. For the BEST programs, you have to be able to dance at the most advanced levels, which doesn't always mean dancing for 15 years (although my daughter did), but certainly having trained at the best dance studios all through high school for an absolute minimum of 15 hours a week.

Aside from the BEST dance programs, there are REALLY GOOD ones, semi-decent ones, only so-so ones, and finally, community colleges. It's at community colleges where I've seen beginner dance classes offered. So it's not like it's absolutely impossible for you to work dance training into a college education. But since you are 16 with virtually no serious dance training to speak of, you'd have to practically turn your life upside down to even hope to pursue dance at a serious level. And without knowing whether you have the talent that can measure up to other 16-year old dancers, the life of a dancer is too rough for you to take such a plunge without testing yourself further. Yeah, it's nice to imagine life as a dancer, but as the mother of a dancer, I can tell you that it is not the kind of life I'd wish on anyone who isn't ready to eat, breathe and sleep dance.

If you want to pursue dance at any level in college, you'd need to get yourself into ballet classes ASAP. Then when you look into colleges for other majors, check out to see whether they offer dance classes to non-majors. Or see whether there is a dance studio in the area that offers adult classes. Finally, magooi1234 is also correct in pointing out that most colleges have various dance teams or clubs. But even those can be hard to join without former dance training. So get back into training now.

To get into a dance school you have to be really really good. Like have danced since you were 15+ years good. You have to audition to get into a dance school. My sister danced for 15 years and when while she didn't go to a strictly dance school, when she took a dance class at her school she couldn't even keep up. No offence but I would look into other options. Most schools have dance teams so you may be able to join one of those. Most people who want to go to dance schools practice 5 times a week for 2 hours. But with your lack of experiance and technique you probably wouldn't get in.
