I doubt it..... I mean be honest..... We all exaggerate the way things happened. Sometimes on purpose, other times it is just the way we remember it. I would like to think they are mostly accurate, where it really counts anyway, but no one knows but the writer themselves.

If you mean is every autobiography/memoir out there full of lies, I have to say no. I'm pretty sure Anne Frank didn't add anything to her stuff - of course, her diary was printed after she died and I didn't see the whole thing before it was published. Did David Pelzer really go through hell as a child? I think so. Did Alice Sebold try to make her rape more dramatic than it was? I don't think so.

Everyone's perception of events is different - could be someone is writing from their heart and they see things much differently than you do. Still, I don't think that would take away from an individual's autobiography or memoir. It's when things are fabricated to make them sound better or more dramatic that there's a problem.

This just popped into my head - I don't think a biography (since she's gone) on Anna Nicole Smith would come close to what REALLY happened in her life. She wouldn't have had to make up anything, since we all can and did do it for her.
