For acoustics, a bathroom is great! But I would only use my own for that. Anyplace outside you may get a few gawkers, in a big city nobody should bug you. I've seen lots of people on the pier.

Go somewhere outside, in public. Relatively few people will know you're a begginner, you might get some cash if you leave your case open, plus, women love it!

if you are by a beach that has a park, go there and whip out an accoustic, you'll have honies all around in a minute.
