There are actually two 1844 large cents. One is the normal date the other is the 1844 over 81.There is an 81 under the 44. There was a combined mintage of 2,398,752. For a grade of fine the liberty,date,stars and legends, must be clear, as well as all hairlines show and hair cords show uniformly. It has a value of $21.00 and the over date $36.00 in this grade. That is about what a dealer will pay.
