I already have Balloon Mollies... what order should I put the rest in? heres the list... Neon Tetras , Guppies , Blue Shrimp , Tiger Snails and Otocinclus... I have live plants in the aquarium, and I read if you have plants, you should get an algae eater near the beggining. (I would put an Otocinclus obviously)

thanks

Otocincluses

All are good community fish, so it really doesnt matter the order. I have had tetras and guppies together and eventually had to get rid of the tetras, as they were nipping the find of my fancy guppies, so you may want to keep an eye on the tetras for a few days, once they are around the guppies.

Algae eaters are not always necessary if you have plants and snails and shrimp. This is because plants and algae compete for the same nutruients and plants, as long as they are well developed and have a good root system going, will win over the algae. The snails will help to keep algae off of the glass. However you also want to besure that you do not leave the light on for a reidiculous amount of time, like12 hours a day or something, as this will cause algae to grow more rapidly.

All in all, your mix sounds good, just keep in mind the general rule of thumb, which is about an inch (of maxiumu length) per gallon. For example, guppies can get up to 3-4 inches, which means that if you had 3 guppies (females are larger) you would need at least a 12 gallon tank. When you go to a fish store, they can tell you the maximum length, or you can research online.

Also, snails, regardless of the type, tend to mulitply rapidly, as they are asexual, so you may want to get only like one or two, as they will quickly reproduce. My friend got 2 snails and ended up with like 50 baby snails over a few months.

The order really doesn't matter. But do make sure you let them sit in the tank in their bags first to adjust to the temperature change. Some fish can go into shock with sudden temperature changes.

It's okay to have algea eaters (your otocinclue AND your snails) will just munch on your plants. (Algea is a plant life itself - so the algea eaters eat plants). Snails are algea eaters as well.

Guppies are fine with or without salt. If you got your fish at a store like Petco or Petsmart - all your fish are use to salt. These stores put salt in the whole system on a regular basis to fight against disease and hep with all the stress the fish indure on a daily basis. The pp who said most did not is wrong.

EDIT: your shrimp is a bottom feeder - so a cory catfish is not needed.

Order doesn't matter, these are all community-type fish. However, guppies require slightly more salt in the water than the others, so they die pretty quickly. I've never had any live more than a few weeks, and I've had some tetras live for years. Also, I would add a cory catfish to help keep the bottom clean, and zebra (or any other) danios are also a good community tank fish. Also, what you can have depends somewhat on the size of the tank.

I would say it doesnt really matter with peacful fish like that, just do about 3 at a time, exept the shrimp u can add mostly all at once

and to the person a few below me, guppies should only be kept with salt if raised with salt, and it captive raised they probably are not yused to salt so dont add salt

Get a big old ugly pleco and dump them all in.
It won't hurt anything.
