Hi there,
I'm thinking about going to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for 4 nights this May and am having trouble finding cheap hostels to stay in there. The only hostels I've found online do not let you pay for a single bed in a shared room. They charge for an entire room.

I am going by myself and therefore would like to find some cheap and simple hostel or hotel accomodations. Ideally I'd like to spend no more than $30 a night.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions for me? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance for your answers!!!

Hola. I'm afraid its quite difficult to find cheap rooms in Cabo. This is because it has been turned into a playground for the rich and the rich and famous. Cabo Inn offers $62 a night, but nothing at $30. You are better off trying La Paz or Todos Santos if you are looking for inexpensive lodgings in that general area.

I've been there seven times.... love the place. But many Californians come there with money, and so the price for hotel rooms are steep. I truly do not know of anything for under $100 a night, but then again, I may be an American who is out of the loop. My favorite place to stay is the Hotel Solmar. It is at the very end where two oceans meet. You might just try typing in "Cabo San Lucas" on your tool bar and see what pops up. I do hope you get to go. The Mexican hospitality is awesome...and so is the food !!!

Cabo San Lucas is a highly touristed area and one of the more expensive cities to stay in Mexico. The cheapest hotels listed in the most recent (12th) edition of Lonely Planet's guide to Mexico lists four that are around 550 pesos per night (roughly $45) : Hotel Oasis, Hotel Olas, Hotel Maria Elena, and Hotel Wilkes. After those four, it goes up to $100 and more.

This is the main hostel site

There are about 1/2 dozen locations but I think Cabo is rather newish / yuppie type location . . .
Hostels are usually in the more established locations.
Good Luck !

Here are a couple of good hostel sites to check out. I am not sure if they let you pay partial for a shared room but they might.

Hope they help.
