I do not mean just death metal or thrash metal.

i do not mean metal as in the material i meen the genra of music.

very much so - many artists use this as a medium - i presume you refer to welding, precious metal art etc not music genres?

In my opinion: Art is the expression of a feeling(s)
If music is made for transmitting sensations, ideas, ways of thinking... it will be art.
When something is made, not from a true need of expression, (say: money, fame, etc etc), it could be anything, except art.
