I will be moving to Elizabeth City North Carolina, is there much to do there? Are there any parks, trails to walk? Any pet shops? Any horse or dog shows ever held around or near there? What types of stores are there? Are there any hobby clubs one could join?

i am from elizabeth city, and just recently moved back here a few months ago.

no, there aren't any real parks...no trail either...there is a pet shop, but i aviod that place b/c all the animals look sick and dying (sad), there are some horse shows in near by hertford, nc that i know of...the biggest store we have is a brand new wal-mart that just opened 3 weeks ago...alot of bingo.

are you or spounse in the coast guard? is that why your moving here? i know there is more to do on base than what is available for civilians.

we pretty much are a suburb of Chesapeake/Virginia Beach area...chesapeake is 33 miles away, there you'll find all the malls, and concert centers, and museums, and alot of "big-city" type stuff...i would say that 60% of the people here work in Virginia...

you can email me if you want, and we can talk more....just send me a message through yahoo answers and we'll go from there!

I travel through the town going to the beach.

I'd say the biggest attraction is that it's not far from Nags Head beach. It's along the water, so boating seems to be the big recreational sport.

A lot of people would be happy just to be that close to Nags Head.

the closest important commercial airport would be Norfolk, Virginia. the subsequent closest important airport would be Raleigh. Charlotte's no longer the closest - probably a minimum of a 5 hour force or so. Richmond, VA or Greensboro, NC - or perhaps Washington DC - would be purely as close as Charlotte.

It's a pretty, old southern town. We lived in NC for 8 years. Things are a lot slower down there. Lots to do if you like the outdoors. http://www.elizcity.com/
