You can work for NASA if you have degrees in astronomy, physics, engineering, or computer science. Mostly, they are looking for people with Ph.Ds, which take about 10 years of college. But check out the jobs on their website - they always have a lot open - to see more of what they are looking for, and what kind of degree you'll need to get the job you're interested in.

Some people could call me a rocket scientist. I used to design fighter jets for a company contracted by the government. I have a degree in mechanical engineering and I went to a regular university for 4.5 years. You can also get a more specific degree as an aerospace engineer. Wow! Good for you. you will want to start looking at an Engineering degree first. That will take four to five years, then you'll want to look at getting a Masters or PhD in aerospace science. That could take two to three years depending on how hard you hit the books. So good luck on a great career.

Minimum 4 years of engineering undergrad and probably a master's (add 1+ years) or doctorate (add 3+ years).

I'd say 5 - 8 years.
