I am not a teacher, but I sometimes train people at my job.
There is nothing like the feeling you get when someone doesn't
"get it", until you explain it in a certain way--and you literally see the "light" go on in their eyes.
That-to me- is the reason a teacher should teach!

Passionate about your subject and wanting to share that with young people.
A genuine liking of and interest in young people.
Wanting to make a difference to the lives of young people.

If you are only interested in the so called holidays, don't become a teacher, all your working days will be very long, most of the shorter holidays are taken up with preparation, planning, report writing, analysis of student data, student tracking etc. etc, so the only really worthwhile holiday is the one in the summer, where you will be able to take 3 or 4 weeks. The rest will be used for working at home or in school if the site is open.

The salary is reasonable for young teachers in poor parts of the country, but you will soon be left way behind fellow graduates who go into different lines of work. If you are teaching in more affluent parts of the country, don't expect to be able to afford a mortgage on your own.

So in answer to your question, you really need to look on teaching as a vocation, rather than as a way to become well off. If you can go into it knowing all of this, you will get enormous satisfaction from the job!

1. To educate and expand the minds of students, allowing them to develop abilities and provide the best opportunities available to discover and achieve their own personal goals in life. I feel that students are not always able to express their creativity and be free thinkers. Which is why I want to become a teacher who enable and encourages students to learn at their own pace as well as enhancing their ideas & knowledge. In attempting to change the world for the better one mind at a time, through the gift of education, a teacher can guide and pass on knowledge for a better future.
2. To actually have a fulfilling career that truly helps others. By giving my all and willingly sacrificing time and effort as a teacher, not only will the students benefit from a dedicated teacher, but i too will be satisfied in knowing that i can/ have made a difference in the world. Even if i am only able to reach one student, or supply the necessary tools for one child to lead a better, happier life, I will be rewarded and happy myself.
3. To continue personal learning while guiding youths to develop themselves. teaching is not only a learning experience for students but also for the teachers. Effective teaching will allow everyone to learn from each other. It is important to guide children into becoming more independent, so that they can learn on their own as well as through others.
