My range is:
as low as any song will go
to:
the B or the C above middle C.
The songs that I have used before that worked are: I dreamed a dream, send in the clowns, and impossible.

A great upbeat number is "No Bad News" from The Wiz. It's definitely alto range, and it's a fun number. It's also easy to pick up, both you and, if need, by an accompanist.
Also, if it's for an audition, I'd recommend avoiding the extremely popular shows like Wicked, Rent, or Annie. Nothing against the shows - the songs are beautiful and well written, but I've been told many a time that casting directors get sick of hearing them very quickly. :D

I don't know how old you are, but here are some uptempo goodies for women of varying ages:
-"Too Darn Hot" from Kiss Me Kate (written for a tenor, but well within an alto's range)
-"Don't Tell Mama" from Cabaret
-"A Wonderful Guy" or "I'm Gonna Wash That Man" from South Pacific
-"A Boy Like That" from West Side Story
-"I Enjoy Being a Girl" from Flower Drum Song
-"You Gotta Getta Gimmick" from Gypsy (it's a trio--not sure if you're looking for a whole solo but this has enough for an audition)
-"Getting to Know You" from The King and I

The Wizard and I from Wicked. It's an amazing song. I'm a soprano but I'm pretty good at picking out songs for certain ranges.
