You can test yourself with a home pregnancy test If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)
A blood test will show if you are pregnant or not 7 days following conception. I have heard urine tests at the doctors will show up 10 days after conception.

Best recommendations is NOT to test to early...tests today give woman false hope. They can read the Hcg level sooner but that is only from the fertilized egg...it has yet to implant. Which would mean you were never pregnant.
Honestly with actively trying for 2 years with a few losses before 8 wks I would still highly recommend to wait until after you are expecting your monthly cycle ...and even then wait 3/4 days. The stress of "wanting" a baby...the ups and downs that go with creating a family can all throw off your cycle a couple days. Plus after 3/4 days you are more likely to get a test result at anytime during the day, so you can wait and test with your spouse if you choose.
Best of luck...

Most labs will tell you on a blood test that the best results are 10 days after conception. The doctors office will use the same test you can buy in the stores on a urine test. Good luck.
I found out on my 1st pregnancy 8 days after conception.. but the lab said the numbers were very low.

there are tests that are accurate about 48 hours after.
I imagine that they are expensive!! and the doctor might not be willing to do it
the regular blood test can be done about 7 days later and is about 97% accurate
