My ex-husband and I are great friends since the divorce (he cheated on me). I knew that we had a son to raise, and my son needed his dad in his life, even though my ex and I couldn't get along. It's been 14 years and everyone we know thinks it is really strange that there is no anger or bitterness. Why is that so strange? Why does a divorce usually have to be so bad and hard on the kids?

Well, everyone has the stereotype in their heads that when two people divorce that they can't get along anymore regardless. No it's not strange, my 1st husband and I are still friends and a lot of people think it's strange. Divorce doesn't have to be hard on the kids, it's up to the parents not to make it hard.

This is only strange to some people because most divorces are bitter and hard to get through. I am so glad and happy that some people are actually civil to each other and decide to stay friends though it all. There should be more people like this. It also would be alot easier on kids that way too.

You should be happy that you and your ex can get along so well.Sometimes a couple will get divorced and get along better than when they were married and you both are putting your son first.
