Being that Obama's mother is white, do you think the results of his campaign for President would be different if he had MARRIED a white woman instead of an African American woman and how do you think both of those will affect his campaign. Please give thought ful answers.

Please people I am really interested in knowing how people feel about this, so say how you really feel. We all know that people don't vote only on the issues, they vote on their perceptions of the candidate. Some people vote MOSTLY on their perceptions of the candidate.

People! You can not be this naive! I'm not talking about Obama being black. I'm asking a question about what you think the chances of him running for President would be if he had married a white woman and if you think it would have helped him.

Yes, but I am not sure it would have been a better choice for him. There is still enough prejudice about marriage between different races. I do realize as someone from a mixed background the argument could be made that any person he married white or black would have been a mixed marriage. I'm not so sure that the race of his spouse will be as important as what type of person she is. From past presidential races, there is enough evidence to show that the spouses of the presidential hopefuls will be subjected to an almost as harsh a line of questioning as the Candidate themselves will be. So ultimately the question of race will be nothing more then a first impression. Lastly, I don't really think image can win you an election, I think it can only lose you an election.

I don't think it would have made any difference at all. It isn't color that people are interested in, but what the man CAN or CANNOT do.

My preceptions come from an inner knowing and listening for honesty and realistic approaches to the issues at hand. What I cannot abide is politizing absolutely everything...and I can't condone when any candidate will TROMP on the current Administration. Once they do that it's ALL over for them, with me. I detest mudslinging and right now everyone on the lib side is doing that. The thing is, whether GB was right or wrong, he admitted his errors and there is no call for anyone running for office downing him more that they already have. The democrats are PLAYING A TRUMP CARD with this war, and USING THE WAR AND THE MISTAKES BEING MADE as a reason and an extra push to take over government.

Keep in mind as well, that Obama is already trying to push through leglislation to 'increase taxes' and this is not necessary yet. Yes, they want to balance the budget, but NOT before taking an office. Some things should be saved. This is where he is making an error in my book; that and fighting to pull the troops immediately instead of the way they planned it. Since he has never been in the military...or even the National Guard, he has no clue how this works. What if America would have pulled out of WWII like they did in Nam. America would not be America today. It would belong to another country, of which we would be a part.

So, there are hundreds of things to consider in a canidate and the color of their skin doesn't make any difference; but knowing when to hold your tongue does.

The people who won't vote for him based on race, he is not trying to appeal to them yet. This is probably the reason that he has choosen the internet as the primary mode of communication, appealing to younger, more open minded, educated audience. You have to realize there would be people who won't vote for him solely based on him being democrat, other on race. There is no way to change these people's view. The better way would be to get the people who would vote for you to the polling place. (A Bush strategy)
So the people who really care about his color are not going to vote for him anyways regardless of if he has an African American or White wife.

Don't think it makes any differance to ME, how it rests with the
public -- who can say. Be it man or woman, the only thing we
should be considering about the spouse is in what direction is
he/she going to influence the president. I personally do not can
for Obama as a candidate (before election however, it IS
possible that he could convince me otherwise)

If he had of married a white woman , they would be downing him for that, He married a black woman like his Father was, I say good for him. Judging people by who they marry really isn't any ones business, he married the woman he loved. He shows his African American genes more than his Caucasian race. I like him myself of course their will be people running him done not for his mind but for his race and that is really a sorry person that does those things.

I honestly don't think it matters either way. I personally don't care what religion or ethnic background he is or any candidate is for that matter. We as the people of the United States need to be more concerned about where candidates stand on issues that are important to us and vote accordingly, not on the basis of who they marry/don't marry.

The same question will be asked to Hillary about her marriage to bill. The fact that he is a man of color will unfortunately lose him some votes. I dont think that his choice of wife will really matter to most people and hopefully people will look past his race and look towards his ideas and if he is not voted in it should hopefully be for a viable reason.
