She never stays in her cage. And last night when I let her brothers out, I noticed that she never came out of her hidding spot. So I got one of her toys and startted squeaking it. I looked EVERYWERE in the apartment and have even looked out side, (although I don't know how she would get out there).

It's been almost 24 hours now and I'm still looking and hopping. My question is has this ever happen to anyone else and did your baby come back?? Is there anything else I can do to find her?? I miss my little girl, and she such a sweet heart and such a figgity eatter, I really don't think she could make it on her own. Has anyone elses ferret ever gotten out and came back? I have her for almost a year, and I don't know what else to do. I'm putting up signs, is there anything else I can do??

I want so bad to help you!! You have some good suggestions from other peoples answers so try ALL of them babes. Please please please let us all know if you find her. If you don't then please don't beat yourself up about it, I'm sure you're a great ferret parent.....these loveable little fuzz butts can get where water can't and it's not your fault she went missing.
IF you don't get her back, try to remember the good times you had with her and don't be too hard on yourself, but I'm hopeful you will find her.
Good luck to you and the little one, i know how upset I'd be if any of my fuzzies went missing. Take care xx

Don't panic. I will bet you she is still somewhere in your appartment. I have heard some very sage advice about looking for a lost ferret, and here it is:

Firstly calm right down, and assume your ferret is somewhere in your home. Then take a pencil and paper, use your imagination, and think up 10 places your ferret could not possibly be. Like, there is no way, she could have gotten in there. Then go and look there.

I have heard of people who found theirs shivering in the ice-box, or trapped in the air-conditioning ducts, using this method. The one problem with ferrets is, they aren't vocal, so if they have gotten in somewhere and can't get out again, they have no instinctive way to respond to your squeak, except of course scrabbling, which assumes they can hear you, and you them.

Please don't despair, and do keep putting out signs too, just in case, but as I say I bet she is stuck somewhere at home.

I really hope you find your little fuzz soon, and I do feel for you :(

All 4 of my ferrets have gone "missing" at one time or another. Dusty was eventually found hiding behind the fridge, Loki was found stuck behind the stove, Kokopelli knocked out a screen and ended up on my roof and Gracie got out during a party once and ended up spending all night outside.

All 4 returned and were fine. Adventurous little things.

Organize a small search party of friends, bring treats, and look absolutely everywhere. Tell the landlord and other tenants your ferret is missing and if they hear a noise that sounds like a mouse (scratching, etc) that it could be the ferret. Strength in numbers!!

Hope you find your precious baby!!

Do you have squeaky toys for your ferrets? If so, use it all over the house, inside and out. Check behind and under furniture and appliances, in closets, in the fridge. Check for holes that would allow access to behind the walls. Leave food and water outside in a carrier. Leave food inside where she can reach it, Check inside the lining under furniture and box springs. These little guys are great escape artists and will turn up where you least expect it. Don't give up hope - I know of many that wandered off that were returned safely. Also, notify you local shelters and pounds. Good luck and best wishes for you both.

She is probably hiding somewhere in the house. Put out trap with some food and wait until night when it is quiet. I had to do this with my sons hamster. I layed down on the floor at 12:00 am for about an hour waiting to hear any little noise and I finally caught the little guy after an hour. Good luck.

A good way in finding your ferret is to use your other ferrets to locate her. I've often used my ferrets to locate my other ferret or hamster(which ever one I couldn't find). All you do is let your other ferrets out to play and see if they find her. She may have fallen asleep somewhere and that is why you can't find her. The other ferrets should locate her and chase her out. They like to play hide and seek so you should soon see all of them. If not I'd try food, but if that doesn't work she may have discovered a way out of your apartment. They are so small you'd be suprised at the holes they can get through(I am sometimes). I'd ask the other people in your apartment building if they have seen her.

i'm unsure if this would paintings for you provided that your ferret isn't "squeaker knowledgeable" as of yet, yet fairly some ferrets will reply to it in any case. Do you have any style of a sqeaky toy or are you able to get one? i take advantage of those little squeaky mice you will get on the puppy shop, yet any style of toy with a solid loud sqeaker would desire to paintings. circulate around your components and squeak it. some human beings theorize that the sound reminds the ferret of a ferret kit in misery or an injured nutrition animal. the two way, all mine reply to the squeaker, yet I knowledgeable mine to via rewarding them with a cope with each and each time they arrive to me as quickly as I squeak. it could additionally help to shake a typical cope with field. Get individuals to help with greater squeakers too. solid good fortune, shop me published.

Keep looking, put up signs still...does she have a collar that shows where the address is and the telephone number? maybe that'll help. get a search team with you. Do you know where else she likes to go to other than you're house? Was you're door open? You're window?!? Good luck finding her.

If she has escaped outside, chances are she'll get lost because of her own curiosity and won't return. Put up lost signs, inform your neighbors, call the humane society and local ferret shelters. I'm so sorry you've lost her. It can be so painful.
