Get to high ground. Assuming there is no warning system in place, if you see the water rapidly receding for no reason it is time to run, and I do mean run. Lacking high ground, get as far away from the coast as possible and hope.

Get to high ground as fast as you can. Unless you recognize the warning signs, it's just about too late to grab anything.

Go to higher ground; make sure you have food, water, medication, etc., to last for 3 to 10 days.
