everytime i go into some kind of online community I always see "I pwn you xD". I know it means something like you got owned but why "pwn"? what does "xD" mean also?

if you beat someone, it was a figure of speech to say "oh man, i own you" as kind of a jibe. my view is that enough dumb people made the typing error p being right next to o and it became pwn. i hate it too. also of note is leetspeak, which is the deliberate use of similar looking letters or numbers as a substitute, so the p could be deliberate, but i doubt it. xD is a sideways face squinting, a variation on :( or ;)

Pwn means to simple dominate an enemy, while xD means a smiley face like squinching its eyes.

"Pwn" means "own" and is supposed to be pronounced the exact same way. It started when someone on the game of starcraft made a map and accidently misspelled "Owned" to be "Pwned"
