Speaking from experience, you should have put the ice on it immediately. At this point, it won't help. However, warm compresses may help the discoloration (blood under the surface) to be reabsorbed more quickly. You very well could have broken your nose.

As for the bump, hate to tell you but it's probably there to stay. I had the same thing happen to me. The bump has gotten smaller, and is not really noticeable anymore. But if the bump really bothers you appearance-wise, you may need to have it repaired by a plastic surgeon in the future. Give it another couple weeks and see how you feel about it.

Well, the ice would've helped right off, when you had started the inflammatory response (dilation of blood vessels to increase blood flow to the area.. results in swelling) to help minimize the swelling. Typically, your nose will bleed if broken. Since it's mostly cartilage, a truly "broken" nose will be fairly obvious... I think your lump is probably just some residual swelling. Ice couldn't hurt. It might take a couple weeks for a really bad bruise to heal, since there are dead tissues that have to be disposed of.

Yes, put ice on it. If it still hurts, and the lump does not go down after a few more days, I'd see a doctor to have them check it out. You might want to have a doctor check it out even if it does not hurt anymore.

yes, as a matter of fact - my dog gave me a nice crack on the nose whilst playing - - it was numb for about 45 minutes - i had a small red lump on my nose for a few daze - now if i touch it - it cracks - doesn't hurt - but, i wondered the same thing? was it cracked or what?

i was under the assumption, that if you got black eyes, that it was broken - - i guess we will never know unless we get an x-ray!

It's too late for ice. Use heat on it.
If it doesn't go down in the next week, see a doctor.

If it was broken you would have felt lots of pain.
