51/85 can be reduced to 3/5. What number can you divide into both 51 and 85 without a remainder to either 51 or 85. I will let you figure out that .

85/17=5

lowest terms= 3/5

to do this you just find a # they can both be divided by equally and get lowest terms..if you have a "fancy" calculator you can just type the fraction in and it will reduce it for you

17 is a factor of both the numerator and denominator.

51 = 17 times 3
85 = 17 times 5

Cancel the 17's (or, divide both the numerator and denominator by 17) leaving you with 3/5.

come across a type this is area of the two the numerator AND the denominator. Then divide the right and backside via this type. 2 is area of the two sixteen and 22. sixteen/2=8 and 22/2=eleven. So, sixteen/22=8/eleven.
