To me smart has three meanings:-
Good to look at.
Bright and quick thinking.
Street wise.
You can be intelligent and wise without being good to look at, bright and quick thinking and street wise.

Being smart is knowing your environment and dealing with it constructively. Being intelligent is the ability to accumulate knowledge.
