What's the best way for enforcing putting a deadbeat on child support? I'm due with my 1st baby in 2 weeks and I plan on putting my sperm donor on child support, but they say they will need his SSN and I don't have it...he's NOT going to give it to me cause he knows what I plan to do. He moves around so much that I don't have a steady address for him. What can I do besides get a lawyer? Anything else they can use besides his SSN?

You don't need a lawyer. You need the services of your county child support agency. (given your screen name-I assume you're from NY). Here is the link to establishing paternity in NY:

https://newyorkchildsupport.com/paternity_establishment.html

You don't need his SS#. First and last name, description and any other pertinant information (such as last known residence, employer etc). It's the child support agency 's job to get the information you do not have.

If you have not already, I suggest you also apply for medical assistance and any other benefit you and your child qualify for. Nothing compels the state to act like getting benefits! Good luck to both you and your child!

If you're not from NY--check out this link and find your state and follow the links to paternity establishment:

AND PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO--DO NOT CONTACT ANY OF THESE 'COLLECTORS' that Yvette reccomends! COLLECTORS
http://www.supportkids.com/
http://www.supportcollectors.com/faq.php...

They are scams who make huge promises and then have you sign papers redirecting payment TO THEM. They will then have your CHILD SUPPORT AGENCY make YOUR child support check payable to them. Once they receive the support the county agency collect, they take their 'cut' (up to 40%) and send the remainder on to you. DON'T DO IT!!!

yeah, some fathers dont pay unless they are ORDERED to. those kind are dirtbags. in any case, if they dont allow you to file, write your reps. FAX them only, its faster and more effective i have found.

all you need to do is file the papers for child support (at your county court-go and pick up the papers or talk to the child support dept), and they get all that info from him when he goes to court. he may request proof he is the father (which is normal and required in most states) so DNA testing will be ordered.

if for some reason, he doenst show up to court (some of them ignore it or run), ask for warrant for his arrest. if they dont do anything about it, write a letter to your states Attorney General, your states Governor and your Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office.

in the letter, give your contact info, his info (what you have), your case number and the problem. they will do what they must to find the father (sometimes it takes forever), but just keep on them as to the status of the case. links are below for you to Fax them all.

go on welfare. it may sound terrible, but the point is, welfare doesnt like parents who dont pay for their babies, and go after them worse then the IRS. you dont need to do anything, they take care of it all.

the states and federal government are TIRED of parents not paying for their kids, and get really mad when they have to. that is why welfare will sick 'em. that is also why todays child support laws are stronger then ever.

some links to help; one is a child support calculator, just click on your state and fill it in. THAT is the amount he will have to pay (a general idea of amount). the rest of the links; just click on your state and find the subject you need.
