I had my gallbladder removed 9 days ago. I had staples to close the incisions it was laposopric. There is a redness around where the sptaples go in and they itch. There is no pain. Is it normal to have a little redness around that area with staples? I have no fever or anything.

It's completely normal. The staples irritate the skin causing the red. The itching is your skin healing.

I had staples on my incision also. The redness is normal, the itching is an indication that it's healing! Itchy is a good thing, but try not to scratch. I found that applying something cold helped calm the itch. Glad you're doing well after surgery :)

Provided there is no pain or discomfort or any type of bleeding/discharge, it sounds as if it's merely healing. To help ease the itching, try rubbing just a dot of lotion on your finger and then over the incision site. This will give the skin a more wet feeling and should help ease the itching.

Your health should obviously be your first priority, so if you feel concerned about your post-operative wounds, then talk to your doctor, he/she will know if you indeed need more medical attention or if it's indeed healing perfectly. Try giving your doctor a call instead and save the money from the doctor visit ;) I'm sure your doctor will let you know if he/she feels that you should go in for a follow up. The best of luck to you and hope you stop itching soon! :)

The itching signifies healing, the redness signifies that something is in ur skin that is not normally there. As long as u have no fever, or the incision is not draining anything yellow or smells bad u should be ok. Just don't go lefting anything heavy.

It's normal to have some redness and itching. It's part of healing and you could be having a tiny reaction to the metal. You may want to gently wash the area with antibacterial soap and rinse very, very well. You can apply a tiny amount of neosporin (if not allergic to it) or better yet some A&D ointment to the area just to keep it soft and protected. Don't scratch because you will only aggravate it.

A little redness is normal and the itching is part of the healing process. If you have normal temperature that too is good.
