I got the installer from the local center. But whenever I try to install it, I only get this window "Preparing to install" and then nothing. The distributor said my Windows ME may not be compatible with iTunes. Should the iPod itself be connected to computer while installing? Any assistance will be highly appreciated.

EDIT: The installer is the same as the one from the Apple.com site. Apple gave me the installer because they thought I wasn't able to download it completely from the site, but it turned out that I did. Both wouldn't install iTunes into my computer.

Yes, the distributor is correct. You need windows XP or later.
ME is really ancient.
