From 5 years ago I realized that something was not quite right with my mental state. I have encountered problems while I attended school in a way of bullying. And even after I finished high school I continue to have problems that are preventing me from socially becoming more open. Is there anyone out there who have a great knowlege of psychology that I can talk to?

As a teenager, I myself suffered a traumatic experience, that haunted me for about 11yrs. Yes, it is difficult to open yourself up to people and trust. My advice to you is that you should seek a psychologist in order to talk through those problems you are having. I myself used to see one and helped me alot in finding myself and how to deal with the experience. I know how you feel, after my experience I became a person who clammed up or was angry at alot of people & I guess the world too. I hated myself for that as I knew I wasn't really that person deep down and I wanted to be my old happy carefree self. Seeing a psychologist is great, but you must be open to listening and not be negative about the advice being given. There is nothing wrong seeing a psychologist, so please don't feel ashamed. Also, for your knowledge it is against the law for a pychologist to share your file with anyone, unless you commit a serious offence. Because of my traumatic experience I am studying psychology to become a councellor. If you are interested in seeing a psychologist etc i'm sure your doctor will be able to give you a few names in your area. There are some good books out there one that is great is: "I can't get over it: A handbook for Trauma Survivors, by Aphrodite Matsakis.

Why do you prefer talking online to seeing a therapist face to face? Is there a reason, like cost? Or shyness?
Like most people on this site, I am willing to help by listening, and maybe being able to point you in the right direction, but a therapist that sees you and can assess your situation more realistically, and who has the training to help. would be your best bet.
However, if you'd like to chat, as the mother of two 20 something men, I'd be most happy to listen. Go to my icon and click on email me.
Good luck. Life can sure be confusing, can't it?

I lived with some serious problems for 2 years. Things just went from bad to worse. My advise is to see someone face to face. After just months of the help that i needed i feel like a new person on the way to reclaiming my life.

I have worked in the Mental Health field for years. If your interested we may be able to discuss your problems, with me offering you some advice and referrals. However, I do suggest you look in your area for help. It's best to talk fact to face with someone regarding such deilcate subjects. Take Care
