What makes you compelled to write a poem to him? Are you good at poetry? Is this someone you've seen around school and you have a crush on him, and you want him to respond? Chances are, if he didn't approach you he might be shy, or he may not be interested. If you are good-looking, he's most likely shy. Or he's possibly gay haha, but I wouldn't start to think that unless it's obvious. Anyway, just write whatever makes you comfortable, and you can make it humourous, because you don't really know much about him haha. Ex. "Hey stranger...Ain't no danger, I don't bite haha" but use your poetry rhyming skills.
The best thing is to just invite him to hang out with you, and your friends. You never know unless you ask. If he smiles at you but never makes a move, then you should just ask him to come to your friend's party, or go to see a comedy film or something.
If you're good at poetry, start writing poems, and sell them or something haha.

If you go by sight alone, you project what you THINK he is. Only by talking to him, to get to know him, you might not want to write him a poem after all. an expression to know him, is to really know him.

Well, to be honest, don't do it yet. First, pretend to bump into him, then apologize,, then introduce yourself. Hey, I'm only eleven, and it worked. I became best friends with the guy.
