because we never want to hear it

I think the reason truth hurts so much is because either what you did or did not do is going to hurt a person you really care about, or it hurts because you do not wnat to get in trouble, but the truth is if you lie about it you will end up getting in even more trouble so there is not any point in not telling the truth unless you like to be in trouble
All you can really do is suck up a whole bunch of courage and go into the room where your parents are(or whoever you need to tell) and just tell them what is going on. You might be in trouble for a little bit, but trust me not as bad as if you lied about it.

Well, it doesn't always hurt. But sometimes it can and that's because maybe someone's learning the truth about themselves...maybe something they've been in denial about or maybe a secret they're embarrassed about. There's a million reasons why the truth can hurt. It's up to your own best judgment and instincts to know when to make someone face the truth or when to leave it alone.

I do not like that saying 'cause there is not any "Truth" in it. The truth does not hurt. Lies and deception does. I love the truth and speaking the truth and it never hurt me nor the people that I am being truthful to. Start by being true to yourself.

The truth hurts because we are often smacked with it when we least expect, or want it. The truth is like a rubber-band that is always attached to us. We live our lives, stretching that truth away from us farther and farther, until we lose sight of it. Then one day, it comes snapping back at us. The more honest about ourselves we are, the closer the truth remains, and the less it hurts.

Because (half) truths are also (half) lies.

Truth is a perception, just as much as lies are.

The other side of the coin always belies the image we had of the first side.

If you know and follow the 'truth' you yourself perceive, it wont hurt half as much. Fact is (as stated by a previous wise man), "Truth will set you free." However this does not erase the memory of the pain from the experience.

The difficult part, is discovering what it is each of us truly believes. Acting on our own truth is challenging as well, but does tend to follow on eventually once we have had that initial breakthrough of discovering our own personal truth.

By not taking wooden nickles (other people's truth) and seeking our very own truth, we truly fulfil our own personal destiny........truly!

It works for me!

Cheers,

John

The truth doesn't always hurt. Mean comments by mean people hurt and they aren't always the real truth, just someone else's opinion.

I'd tell them to get stuffed.

Tell me lies if what you are gonna say hurts.

It hurts because when you hear the truth and it's bad then you get upset at the person who said it to you. Pulse if you don't like it then the person who you told it to they will hate you for a long time.

The truth hurts when it is not what we want to hear.

Truth seperates, acknowledges, and confirms what the human mind has accepted to be a fantasy or reality. The brain transcribes this new found knowledge into painful emotion, this is mixed with the element of surprise from the information, ordinarily called "fight, fright or flight" response.
