We are born and then we die only to be born again and so on until we realize that we are not born and that we don't die. When we truly realize this, then we will never be born or die, ever again.
This realization must not be a mere idea or a thought, but a true achievement. How is this going to happen? Well, that's your homework!0!

I believe that we were put on this Earth as sort of a science expirement. If you believe in God, like most do, then you could also accept the notion that God put us here to observe our achievements and our failures. God placed us here just to watch what happens and not interfere. If you can believe that then think about this, what if God is envious of us, human beings, because any moment could be our last, and God is sentenced to a never-ending existance. Everything is more beautiful and tragic because we are doomed. Doomed to the shortness of our existance here on Earth. We make a thousand choices everyday that could help us, or harm us. And because of this, God has only to sit back and watch us make those decisions, for better or worse, only to realize that there are absolutly no direct coscequences for his or her actions that would lead to the end of his or her existance.

I think for the same reason we'll eat a cake, or read a book or do anything - for the experience. Life isn't just about being born and dying. It's the in-between bit that makes it worthwhile.

Simple truth: We have no choice.
Complicated truth: There is no ethical question here. Birth is not necessarily good and death is not necessarily bad. Your question reads judgmental. For all we know birth and death are just things we imagine exist.
Of course if you can come up with a better idea of how existence should work and you have the means to change things by all means do so.

EVERYTHING has it's price.
The price of Life is Death.
We all know we are going to die. Personally I want to make sure that even if I am not remembered, at least something that I have done will have made the world a slightly better place!
Thats the burden I put on my childrens shoulders.
Make us even slightly better and it's worth it.
Just make sure you have a bit of fun doing it!
:~}
To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect

we aren't born to die. There's another life after this one. I have faith in Jesus Christ, I'm a Christian, you can be too if you want to be, and if you don't, that's your choice, but if you do, here are some verses Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8, and Romans 10:9-10. You need to admit that you're a sinner (you do things that are wrong) and repent of your sins. You need to have faith (believe and trust) that God is who he says he is. And you need to try your hardest to live for him. God knows we'll make mistakes on the way, but that's why he sent Jesus, to pay the price for our sins. He can forgive you, and you can live past death. It's up to you to believe, a lot of people don't, and sometimes it's hard to believe, but I have faith in God, and you can to.

So we can 'live' and 'grow' and 'learn' in this life. It is as if in this life you are a 'child' and in the 'next life' (Heaven or Hell) you will be an 'adult' and do things differently because of what you learned in 'this life.'
Killing yourself is 'never the right answer' because only God (or 'the powers that be' or 'inevitability') can 'know' when you have 'done growing' and are 'ready to move on.'
