The bill is legal tender.
There is a small hole in the middle of the bill but still recognizable.

Assuming it is genuine (and US post-1861), something like that would be prohibitively rare.
You would certainly want to have it authenticated by an expert, though. There is one banknote in particular (the Bank of the United States $1000 dated 1840), which is a very common and worthless fake. The fakes always have serial #8894. More on this one at the web site linked below:

Go to a coin collector and they will tell ya it should be worth allot
