Definitely read them, first chance you get, they are difficult to find in stores so try buying them from www.amazon.com, or www.bn.com. Also when you finish those look for the new series "Fearless FBI" I just started it and it's great. (Theres a lot of books in the series but they are kind of short..dont worry) I cant stop reading them!

When I was in 8th, I was into mysteries, and still am a fan of mystery novels. But I evenually became a fan of historical, too.
My recommendations are: Blueberry Muffin Murder, Peach Cobbler Murder, How The West Was Won, Chocolate Frog Frame Up, The Cat Who Saw Red, The Cat Who Came To Breakfast, Chance McGraw (yes, that's the title of a book),
Webster's Dictionary and Creating Short Fiction.

Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur Golden

You get a great look at some Japanese culture, as well as a lost way of life. There is some adventure, a smidge of romance in it as well, and it is part historical, part fiction.

You've probably read them before, but "Sarah, Plain and Tall" and "Skylark". I think there's another book to the series, but it is a fiction series and is somewhat historical, it has a romance story and isn't graphic. Hope you find what you're looking for.

'Warlock' by Wilbur Smith. It has everything you're asking for. Set in ancient Egypt (written by a man who lives in Africa so he knows the history really well). Has lots of action and adventure as the main character battles to reclaim the throne, and has a really sweet romance between him and his childhood sweetheart. It's about 6-700 pages so should keep you busy for a while!

You might like "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire, if not that then I'd suggest a classic, like a Jane Austin book. My personal favorite is "Pride and Prejudice," which I read all the time in middle school. The dialogue is witty and funny and it's a very romantic story.

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis are fun! (There's some hidden meaning in them too).
